The super mario mushroom which Toad the character from mario is based off of is completly based off of the Amanita Muscaria mushroom which gives the experience of things growing big and small as well as many other trippy effects that may explain why super mario is so trippy such as eating leafs that turn him into a flying raccoon. This mushroom was also used by the author of Alice in Wonderland as Alice grew big and small. This mushroom may also be resposable for the ancient Hindu religion as it might have been known as Soma and it could be responsable for the appearance of Santa.
